About Ilkeston

Wash Arts is based in Ilkeston, Erewash

  • lkeston is a busy market town situated between Nottingham and Derby. It is a few miles from junctions 25 and 26 of the M1 and in easy reach by car or public transport from Derby and Nottingham. We have seen and have contributed to significant growth in The Arts in the area over the past five years.
  • There are initiatives such as Shed 2, Harrington Mills and Frailoop studios, The Beetroot Tree Gallery, Erewash Borough Council’s Festival of Light, Ilkeston Festival, Long Eaton Artroom, CAFE (Culture and Arts Forum Erewash’s) forthcoming rEvive empty shops project and Ilkeston Ormiston Academy’s Art Centre (due to open later this year).
  • There is therefore a strong and active community of artists, arts organisations and arts professionals living and working in the area.
