THRASH THE TRASH

Thrash the Trash was a one day event that offered new creative experiences for local families in a relaxed, enjoyable, community environment.
The event had an overriding theme of low-cost and eco friendly activities as a means of supporting sustainability.

We developed the event in partnership with The Enterprise Centre in Cotmanhay. Families were offered a range of free activities such as junk drumming, willow weaving, scrap fabric accessories, shadow puppets and paper play.
The event received funding from Neighbourhood Renewal and Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities funds. It was also supported by Bennerley School and volunteers from Cotmanhay Cooking on a Budget Group who helped provide lunch on the day.

The event demonstrated the value of giving families the opportunity to allow themselves the time and space to get creative together. These are some of the comments we received from the 50 participants:

“Opened my mind. Very Enjoyable”

“My friend and I enjoyed it very much. It showed we can be musical”

“Fun, spent some time with my son & had a laugh. Made a monster together”

“Has given me lots of ideas I can do at home. The children have enjoyed it”

“It was very good and nice to see the kids enjoying it. We all had lots of fun. It was nice to use our imagination"
